Just got my letter of notice of my termination of my contract today, the first day i've worked since turning 18 this week. No one warned me of anything, I've never been told off and aside from sneaking off to go to use the toilet once in a while I can't say I've ever been rude or done anything wrong. Reckon I'm being fired just so they don't have to up my wages? I can't help but feel like I've done something wrong but it seems a bit coincidental.. I'm going to ask them but I'm worried they'll say it's because I'm shiit! They didnt even tell me what the letter was.. just handed it to me.

Anything like this happened to you?

Where do you work? I would imagine this is more common in small business than the big chains. You should be able to kick up a fuss now or take it to tribunal. If they have made you redundant however, that is a different story, take the pay off money and find a job elsewhere - there will be far more of them now you are 18.

Yes you are correct. They don't want to pay you more and it is harder and more costly to get rid of you as well
