Same as normal, take the best of those who want to go there.

Preferably; keep tying. It will be very busy.

What is competition like for civil engineering.?
Pretty intense, I imagine. A lot of courses won't have any places left by the time it gets to clearing.

Im sure it varies from uni to uni, for more competitive unis then yes they will look at your personal statement but i know last year for a ranked >80 uni my friend got in just by quoting his grades over the phone.

You phone up, give them details including and a number so they can look at your application, they either decide based on grades or look at your application (this takes longer, so would probably be a call back) and consider whether you're a good candidate ... then reply based on their consideration. Same as normal, besides the telephone call.

Not strictly first, because it's not first comes first served ... but you need to be early, because they give out places to the first good candidates. Similarly, if you get a place you do want to accept, it's worth not waiting around because some unis give more offers than places.

A tip I know of people doing is getting lots of relatives and friends of the same gender to be phoning up as them. Not representing a false image, because they're giving the details of the applicant ... but means they can do more than one uni at a time.

Pretty rough, I imagine. I'll try and find my copy of this year's listings, see if I can let you know how many unis had it.
