The book is awful and just rambles on! Anyone doing this course, do you know of any resources, and what do/did you do to help revise for this awful course?

There's a CGP revision guide which, although less than perfect, is by far the best thing going for it. Also, do all the old-spec past papers as well as the newer ones.

Well, the CGP guide isn't too bad, and much better than the textbook. And definitely do plenty of past papers, both old and new spec like Revolution has said. There are also some revision cards on this website: http://sam.davyson.com/as/physics/cards/ which can be quite useful for last minute revision.

And, just to reassure you a little, it does get better next year (if you choose to carry it on for A2...), the topics are much more interesting and the exams aren't full of questions that barely seem to relate to the syllabus . But the AS is definitely awful.
