So basically a friend of mine is going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, he got quite close to a girl but things didn't work out and now she's off with a new boyfriend...now he's gone majorly depressed saying how he'll never find somebody...whats the point...etc...
So I feel I should say something to him, but everytime he mentions this girl I can't think of how to say anything that doesn't sound incredibly cliche....you know, i've been reduced to saying, there's plenty more fish in the sea :/
and of course he's heard all these a million times before, so despite them being true, they're not really gonna help him, and now he rekons I don't understand or care, which isn't true coz we've all been there and know what it feels like...
So any ideas of ways around this? what can i say to him without sounding like a bit of a ****?
friend going through bad patch, what do I say? Watch

You're a good friend But my friend went through this at the start of the summer, and although I tried to say the right thing...what really helped was just to listen as often as he needed it I think. Time and getting on with life pulled him out of it a few months later, and he's starting to date again. Being there is the key, really.
