I was wondering if anyone here knows anything of West LB? Are they an investment bank or a pure commercial bank with investment bank arm?

Are they even reputable? Which banks does it compare with in terms of reputation?

    Thanks

    Far from it. Think NatWest.

wrong. they have absolutely no retail banking, like most Landesbanken.
its jsut corporate + IB. doesn't mean they're any good at it though.

its ok if you want some experience i guess. But they don't have a particular good reputation. It will be difficult to see you move to a BB if you start there full time. Chances are the bank will get winded down soon anyway.

my friend did 2 year stint there I also know a colleague who joined from WestLB to US IB. It by no means limit your future career though I do know some people kind of look down on it. Not that I would but just to let you know what the street thinks...

yeah, i can see the point you're trying to make, but natwest is a RBS subsidiary without their own investment banking arm....

some of you guys are funny, once you start applying and get rejected from GS, JPM etc you will give your right arm to work somewhere like Westlb which is still a multibillion pound international firm.
