# Further Pure 2 Ex 10B question 11c) Watch

1. Basically the question is asking find the indefinite intergral of 1/(7cosx -sinx + 5), using the substitution t=tan(x/2)

I've typed up the question and my progression with it, but I'm not reaching the answer the back of the book says I should be reaching, but I'm pretty close.

Any help would be appreciated ;>

Heres my progress so far:
2. although the book is probably correct with the ln answer, i get
2/5 * artanh (1/5 * (2 tan (x/2) + 1)) + c with only 3/4 lines of working out, i assume you haven't done FP3 yet and don't know the integrals/derivatives of arctanh, arctan, etc, or are you being asked to find the answer out in that specific method? in the terms of an exam, either way is fine as the formula book will have the FP3 formulas on them.

4. Ah, cheers.
Makes me wonder how the book got it's answer though; <
