For highly competitive courses, (like LSE, warwick etc.) is it likely that I would be required to have an A* for economics at a-level? Im currently predicted A* maths, A* econ, A FM, and B physics

Nah, usually the offers you get are M*AA (Maths A*, Economics and one other As)

Ok thanks for your feedback. Apparently the grades they give you for an offer is based on your predictions and since im predicted an A* in economics would they take that into account?

Some will; for example Bath prefers Economics students so the A* in Economics might help more with Bath than others. A* in Maths and FM would probably be seen as better by most admissions tutors, but the requirement is A*AA, A* Maths preferred, for top unis, and you satisfy this nicely.

If your school predicts A*s easily then you should be wary of this, especially if your UMS scores were not really there (i'm not suggesting anything about your predictions - just saying.)
