be in a relationship for over 9 months without actually loving the person?

and case in point-what if he's kind of person who needs to be wanted and loved all the time and taken care of too. would he be in a relationship just for 'the time being'?

No, if someone needs to be loved or taken care of all the time, they should seek help, not force others into pointless relationships.

People are in relationships with other people who they don't love all the time. 9 months isn't very long. Though in the very long term it's best not to be in that relationship.
