    Hi everyone,

I was going through some of the many subject league tables online and Birmingham seemed to always come lower than Sussex for History; yet, from what I hear, Birmingham is a russell group university and is better. Both courses seem very attractive and interesting but I really don't know about my final choice.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could give me some feedback about the courses at both unis and maybe a few more pointers about these "subject league tables".

Don't base it on league tables - the exact positions mean nothing.

Its not really anything to do with league tables, but the two places are very different, what sort of person are you?
Birmingham is a lovely campus university but it is huge and in a massive bustling city. This is great for shopping, night life, transport links, things to do etc.
From what I have heard Sussex is smaller and much quieter but then it does have the beach and some nice countryside and might be easier to manage if you are daunted by moving to a new place.
