generally, the term "arrogant" is what insecure people call confident people to make themselves feel better about being betas rather than alphas. it is a passive-aggressive attempt to turn confidence against the confident man, because misery loves company.

however, arrogance can also be when one's confidence in oneself is misplaced. pretentious people fall into this category. people who pretend to know everything, act like they're amazingly cool, tell everyone about how great they are, rationalise everything to everyone - basically have a huge super-ego attack.

Arrogance is overestimating your own abilities. Confidence is not underestimating them.

Couldn't agree more. Believe in yourself and your abilities but not too much

I am an arrogant person . Whenever I meet people who are confident and happy, I get a feeling of inadequacy and start overcompensating with arrogance. I only behave arrogantly to compensate for my lack of confidence.

I hope to start afresh at my new job this Monday. Hopefully I can be confident being myself, and not have to put on this mask.

True confidence is badassery, shown through actions rather than words.
