The reaction of solid potassium bromide with concentrated sulfuric acid.

How would you write an equation for this?

    The mark scheme says
    2KBr + 2H2SO4 K2SO4 + Br2 + SO2 + 2H2O

    2KBr + 3HSO 2KHSO + Br + SO + 2HO

Where have the balancing numbers come from and I though HBr is also formed?

Conc sulphuric acd also oxidises the HBr formed. The balancing comes from the redox reaction.
