i would say that ocr is hardest.
i say this purely because im studying it.

I think Edexcel is one of the most popular, purely because everyone around me who does Maths does it with Edexcel. One might be slightly more difficult or easy than the other, but there shouldn't really be any huge differences.
I think edexcel are the most pickiest, i.e. your answer has to hit all the right buttons.

Edit: whoops, I'm such a muppet, I thought this was about a-level chemistry

It seems likely that there is no board which is conspicuously harder or easier than the others, since firstly QCA, the body responsible for monitoring standards, would not allow it, and secondly, schools would all flock to the easier board(s). Heads of Maths would be quick to spot a board whose specification were much less demanding than the others; they are keen that their candidates achieve the highest grades.

I suspect that few contributors to this forum have sufficient experience of all the boards to enable them to answer this question, however!

MEI is OCR.

hi all
i just wanted to know what people thought were hardest easiest board for a level maths

i think AQA seems to be easiest followed by MEI with Edexcel being hardest

i dont knwo about the OCR vboard though

wta are ur opinions

i imagaine though edexel is the most popilar board in UK

I think Edexcel are the worst exam board. Their Maths papers look easy I have to admit.. but you never know what kind of r*tard will be marking your paper. Seriously.

Edexcel is certainly very popular for Maths. Does this suggest that it is easiest by Aitch's argument?
I did edexcel for maths and I asked ppl who did different exam board (at uni) and they did wat I did (pretty much exactly) I think the only difference is that questions tend to be harder but the topics studied are the same. But the alevel system is totally messed up now (this core rubbish) so its now easy any way.......

I agree. The new core syllabus is a mistake. A big one infact.
Especially when you find yourself studying applied maths modules and your pure maths is about a module behind, whereas with the old system, most schools could get P1-P3 done fairly easily in a year. My class still hasn't finished C4 and some students haven't sat C3 yet. So some people in my class have C3,C4,FP1 and FP2 to sit this year! This causes problems with applied modules, especially M3-M5 which require C3-FP2 knowledge. However the only advantage I can see of the core syllabus is the fact that it might encourage more people to study maths at a-level.

Oh and if anyone could give me any info on FP3 or S1, it would be appreciated as I might self study them.

I'm currently aiming to complete by the end of the year:
C1,C2,C3,C4,FP1,FP2,M1,M2,M3,M4,M5,D1

I have already sat:
C1,C2,C3,M1,M2,M3

Edexcel without a doubt! At GCSE they're okay, but A-level; they are playing you hard.

Er, dunno about FP3(Im not doing further), but S1 isnt that difficult, however it is incredibly boring..

OCR Physics is currently breaking my balls, so no doubt the hardest. :p:

If you have already done those modules and are planning to do the ones you say. S1 will be seriously easy.

oh good. Thanks.
Widowmaker, FP3 Edexcel looks pretty funky, definitely worth doing...priority over S1. (indeed it is boring) [If you have time to doboth though, go ahead  ]

Edexcel Statistics papers are annoying at least, so many places to lose odd marks, accumulates so much...

I did P6 and S1 ... S1 is very easy compared to P6. Sut I think P6 is more useful as it has matrices, differentiate equation, vectors in 3D ... While the only one thing I learnt from S1 is probability like P(A U B) ....

Well, I think you can easily over both of them, just try to look at a book and see what you are interested in
Have fun

The stats papers aren't so bad (speaking having only done S1 -- S2 in Jan, S3 in June), and the UMS boundaries are often lower than the Mechs ones.

I thought that S1 was easy and boring. But because it was the first module that I did entirely on my own it was kinda good fun. I mean I think it is a good module to self-study, because you really do not need to do all the questions in the book. Most of the concepts need little/no practice.

Also be sure to look in the formula book before you start learning anything. You'll find a surprising amount of the textbook is regurgitated for your convience.
i think edexcel is the hardest
