definitely not digby, mary gee is really out the way and a bit rubbish too. also city living is more for grads not undergraduates so i'd go for oadby.
jo fo is awesome and new and posh but everyone in there says its unsociable.. im in GMS and its very good. the blocks arent the most appealing but the rooms are a decent size and its very sociable and close together. obviously it depends on whether you want catered or self catered too..

leicester is awesome btw. good choice

I went to look at Leicester Accommodation at the open day and for some reason they decided not to open any of the cheap standard self catered!
That's the only stuff I can afford so what's it really like?

I'm in Digby at the moment and it isn't as bad as everyone makes out - there are twenty six people in my block, so as you can imagine, it's incredibly social which kinda makes up for the lack of facilities - like a dining room!

It's split into houses and blocks - four being all male residences. The rooms are generally okay, they aren't massive but to be honest most people don't spend a lot of time in them anyway.

The blocks don't have a common room, or a large kitchen in which everyone can meet (as they are catered) but the foyer works for most of us.

Though some of people I live with didn't have Digby as their first choice of accommodation, all have said that they wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I would recommend, if possible, that you visit all of the residences. You'll know which one is for you just by seeing it. In the meantime if you have any questions about the accommodation, or about the University in general, don't hesitate to ask.

P.S. I have pictures of my room and the foyer if you want to see what they are like?

You say that, but Digby was my last (well, it wasn't even one of my choices) and I ended up in it. BEWARE.

I agree I live in JoFo now and love it. The way to get in is to apply for catered instead of self -catered (I didn't want it but it's fine) We live 10 on a floor and we always have the doors propped open socialising The other 30ish in the block also nearly all socialise too so don't worry about that. Whatever you get you will love though

Avoid Digby and *really* avoid Mary Gee. Jo Fo is nice but very expensive and not particularly sociable; the bar there is dead most of the time. I went for GMS; the building looked like a prison block, but its way more sociable and the bar is good

It's not bad at all. I'm in self-catered at GMS. My only complaints are that I have to down 31 stairs to get to the bathroom and that I'm actually away from the rest of the hall with two other houses. Although getting to the sports fields/gym/hall is easy, it's my back-garden.

I have uploaded pictures on the 'Post pictures of your dorm room' thread of my room if you want to see that. I don't know about the other self catered students but mine is the smallest/ 2nd smallest (can't quite work out if one of the room is that tiny bit smaller) of the 5 in the house.

Mary Gee really isn't that bad as people make out btw, if you're looking to save a bit of cash I'd easily recommend it! It's a perfectly acceptable place to live and the main thing that makes halls are the people in them, not the actual halls.

In my opinion, pretty much paying double the amount for Jo Fo is just not worth it (and then having to pay the extra for the bus pass).
