Hey guys, for my portfolio I've got to come up with some form of theme/concept and then write an essay on it. I want to do either music or sport (ideally both) but I'm struggling to think of a coherent theme. I need to talk about the concept of the photographs I'm going to take but I've come to a halt at the moment. I know it's difficult without seeing the pictures but is there any sort of common themes in pictures I could talk about? If I was to take pictures at gigs (which is what I like doing) then what sort of angle could I approach an essay on?

Briefly - "The title ought to clearly reflect the concept idea in a very short sentence. This may be a question. Provide a summary which identifies and explains core elements of your approach. Add a brief description of what the essay contains."

Sorry to be a burden, but I'm really struggling for ideas

Hmm I'm confused about what the 'theme' you're after is, is it a general concept or a photographic technique? I've probably got the wrong end of the stick but perhaps something like motion blur would fit in well with both those subjects (especially sport) and would show you're using a specific technique, then you could write the essay on how you went about achieving that technique and the theories behind it.
