How can we tell which substances are involved in the rate determining step? I'd post what I know so far but I feel it could just cause confusion, so if anyone could give me a brief summary, that'd be fantastic.

There is usually 2 steps to a sort of reaction, the slow one and a fast one, the slow reaction is always the rate determining step, like charco said, the reactants in the rate determining step are in the rate equation

if the concentration of reactant effects the rate of reaction, then it is involved in the rate determining step.
