I currently have a £1,750 overdraft which I'm in pretty much up to the limit, this is due to my accomodation last year being over a grand and a half more than my maintenance loan, and me only being able to find a job halfway through the year.

Currently I have £142 a month going into it from my parents plus ~£250 a month from my job going into my current account - over the summer and now I've pretty much been living hand to mouth.

I now don't have enough money to pay this months rent by about £3, and I'm going to have to ask my landlord to wait until I get my January loan to pay that months rent.

My plan is, since I don't even have enough money for food right now, to go into Halifax tommorow and explain and ask for an extension to get me through until my loan comes in in January.

(I also have a credit card with them which I got for emergencies over the summer, which due to these various money issues has ~£400 on it)

How likely is it do you think they'll let me have an extension of say £250 to cover me for the rest of the month? Because I'm moving home next summer, pretty much all of my April loan will be going to pay off around half the overdraft anyway, and I'll hopefully be working again all summer to pay it off further.. will that work in my favour if I tell them that?

Halifax don't manage student overdrafts in the branch (except actually giving you one when you apply for it the first time), you have to call them. Good luck though, there's no harm trying, right?

Might just be the two branches/area I went into then. At one branch, they made me phone the Halifax people from the branch...
