    I understand the theory, e.g. sin(x + 30) and 3cos(50), but I cannot for the life out of me sketch them. If I have to do it in radians, it's just even worse.

    Help me out please. :puppyeyes:

    Theres nothing difficult about this i.e first one its been translated by -30 in the x direction. therefore you move the sin graph to the left by 30.

    Second one- is that written correctly?

    Oh sorry, it was meant to be 3cos(x-50). My mistake...

    Does questions like these come up often?

    Ok 3 Cos x implies that its stretch by scale factor 3 in the y direction- if it had been (cos 3x) Then it would be a stretch by SF 1/3 in the x direction.

    and the x-50 implies it has been moved to the right by a translation of vector (0 50)

    And Yes it does.

    Which do you do first? The number outside the bracket, or the number inside the bracket? How would you go about drawing the graph?

    What do you mean by number outside the bracket?


    Well you can do either first but I would translate the graph and then stretch it.
