# Roots Watch

1. I have this question, I have been given the equation:

x^4 - 6x^3 + 23x^2 - 34x + 26 = 0

It gives me the root 1 + i and asks me to prove that and find the other roots. I prove it by putting it in and getting 0.

Obviously one root is 1-i, but how do you get the others?

Normally I would get a factor like x=1 so put x-1 in and do polynomial divison etc.

But I can't seem to do that with non-real roots, how can I do this?
2. Multiply (x-(1+i))(x-(1-i)). This is a quadratic which is a factor of your polynomial. Divide it, and you'll get a quadratic, which you can solve.
