um, i know the cost of things must be a worry, but please dont let it get to you, or let it get in the way of getting the grades you need... i guess the most important thing is that you have got a place at oxford, and you ought to feel great about it. remember as well, if you work hard there you will hopefully get a decent enough job to be able to pay off any large debts... um, i know that doesnt sound much of a consolation, but i seriously think you shouldnt feel bad about your situation.
oh, and i dont know if this will help, but when i was at an open day in oxford i asked someone at christ church where i could find pembroke (i considered applying there as well) and they said, in the most awful, rah, boastful, ughh..., tone, 'pembroke...oh, youre not thinking of applying there are you??? when you go over there, ask them, are you called pembroke because youre so... broke?!?' ahhh!!! this just made me feel that i would love to be at pembroke, to get away from the likes of that awful pretentious boy if nothing else... um, so the point of thew story? well, i'd prefer three years in somewhere with a great atmosphere etc. than at a rich college that didnt suit me.
