    Im getting tired of the micky mouse arguements everywhere in the last 10 years. Ive been thinking that it probably is true that they are just expensive and a waste of money and think that theres a more efficent way.

    Take for example the much berated media studies the much suffering king of the micky mouse family. A typical 3 year degree costing now up to £27,000 for the fees alone before accomadation etc are considered. At the moment it many love to sit on their high horse and claim that its redundant in the jobs market and nobody can get a job because they need relavent experience.

    I propose this for future media enthuiasts;

    2 years voulantary work at television stations, production companies, film studios, radio broadcasters and newspaper offices, simply saying to the employer youll work hard but with no wage even if its only mundade work.

    Self directed learning of the subject in evenings and weekends with exams and course work at reasonable intervals for a small fee of say £1500 to cover costs of material examiners etc and at the end a more respected qualifacation issued from a government education organisation

    This way you have industry contacts a wealth of experience in a specific jobs industry and no student loan.

    A similar framework could be set out for lots of degrees meaning many degrees that arent aimed at a job market could disapear. I am of course open to criticism and to anyone studying media im sorry its nothing personal

    any other better ideas would be interesting.
