What are your top 10? I'm finding it incredibly hard to choose

    In no particular order:

    The Sussex Carol
    Sans Day Carol
    The Holly and the Ivy
    Silent Night
    Riu Riu Chiu
Tomorrow shall be my Dancing Day (original tune)
    What Child is This?
    The Coventry Carol
It Came Upon a Midnight Clear

    Adeste Fideles
    Candlelight Carol
    The First Noel
    O Little Town of Bethlehem

    God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
    Hark the Herald Angels
    Sussex Carol
    Silent Night
    Once In Royal David's City

'In The Bleak Midwinter' was on here, but then I remembered God Rest Ye... and Bleak Midwinter got bumped off the bottom of the list. :P

Yay, someone else who loves the Sussex Carol! Hardly anyone else I know has ever heard of it I'd have most of your other ones in my top 20 (though not The First Noel, or Hark the Herald).

Cantique de Noel (Oh Holy Night)
    In the Bleak Midwinter
    Hark the Herald
    Once in Royal
O come all ye faithful (purely for the descant.... I wish I was soprano)
Sussex Carol (although the group I sing with has never managed to make it sound good...)
    Coventry Carol

Kind of stuck for my last three. There aren't any other carols that I really like, so I don't want to put them on the list. It's those ones (in roughly that order), then almost all other carols, then the little drummer boy and little donkey right at the bottom, in my mind.

Edit: Just saw someone else say they forgot ding dong merrily on high... That might make it on to my list too, actually.

'Have yourself a merry little Christmas' isn't a carol, that's cheating!

Glad someone else has put 'Tomorrow shall be my dancing day' though

There's a carol called 'Thorns in the Straw' that's just beautiful. It's best sung by a soloist or a choir I think, but it's the most beautiful song. I think it was written by Graham Kendrick. I'd recommend it highly, as a non-traditional Christmas carol, although it often makes me cry. I also love Hark the Herald Angels sing, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Once in Royal David's city, in the bleak midwinter - basically all the traditional carols!

Good King Wenceslas all the way.
    :yep:

And is it just me and did people used to think the line was 'Good King Wenslas last looked out....'

    I always did

    ~

I like Gabriel's Message/The Angel Gabriel, because when I was younger I always thought the first line with the music was quite sinister (though it isn't). I've looked on youtube and can't find a version that seems like the one I used to listen to, but here is one anyway:

    I also love:
    We Three Kings
    God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen
    The Holly and the Ivy
    Hark! The Herals Angels Sing
The 12 Days of Christmas: epic
