So I am retaking AS Level History for edexcel. I am quite proficiant with most types of questions and have sorted out a formidable essay structure system for questions that analyse the significance of several different factors.

Having looked at the example materials mark scheme, the "How Far did x do x" questions seem to be every where. Does any one have a decent structure or method that they use to tackle such a question format?

i tended to find myself using the following...

intro - noting some of what you're going to be chatting on about

paragraph one - explain whichever argument/s you DON'T think was the main reason

paragraph two (if necessary) - continuation (if you can't link it smoothly with paragraph one, keep it all in paragraph one.

paragraph three - "HOWEVER" talk about WHY the argument/s above wasn't/weren't the main reason.

paragraph four - link this with three, even put it IN three. talk about why the argument you think WAS the main reason was so.

conclusion - don't use any new information, just make it a summary.

that's what i generally did anyway :/ but it was always a bit different for different essays, i don't think there's a perfect way of doing it. for AS it's all about ticking the boxes though, so make sure you cover what needs to be covered.
