Textile Crafts!

Hi all (:
i'm looking to start the Textile Crafts course in September 2011 and was wondering if anyone else is starting next year aswell? Or if anyone has already started and has any info on it.. is it fun? :biggrin:

Hi Samantha,
Well I am a second year textile crafts at hudd uni. If you are interested in coming to hudd then I would get yourself along to one of the open days so you can see for yourself. It is a great uni and a really good course. I love it!!!! Hard work but totally worth it.
The first year is a year of teaching you different techniques and getting you to try different areas. At the end of your first year you choose a specialism and then concentrate in that area. For me I chose embroidery.
Hudd uni is also grat because we have a lot of facilities that other uni's don't.

Hi there,

Im doing textiles crafts this year... but was also wondering what the kit list will be like and how much I will need to have to buy it all? :smile:

Im excited but sooooo nervous!

I move into snow island on the 10th sept.

Don't be nervous, we're a great bunch!
They'll send you a list of everything you'll need, but I found that I never used some of them! I'd say make sure you have the necessaries first. Like embroidery hoop, fabric scissors, a set of different needles, and some knitting needles. You do a lot of art experimentation in the first year so make sure you have the usual art supplies -lots of white paint, sketchbook, paintbrushes, big sheets of paper and anything to create texture with. It's all just experimenting in the first year, hard work, but totally worth it- promise!
