I need to produce flow charts for the following using labelled diagrams-
    1) the product is a liquid
    2)the product is a solid
    3)how to indentify it

I need to show the equipment at each stage, and clearly show how the product is purified

any help because i have no idea!

    cheers (:

    The question says-
Consider the synthesis of an organic compound in which the reactants are reacted together in solution at reflux.

Then it says everything i said before (:

ok, so they are asking you how to purify the product of a reaction, either with the product as a solid or liquid, then how you would identify it.

What purification methods do you know, which of these would be appropriate for a solid or a liquid?
What analysis techniques do you know, ditto - which can you apply to solids or liquids?

Well i think the product can be purified by distillation, either simple or fractional depending on what you're dealing with.

For the identification, you need to tell me whats the stuff you have as the product and then i can help you tell the reagent which will confirm the identity of whatever you have.

    Hope this helps
