I am currently in Year 11, and we are all choosing our AS Levels. I have 2 questions about this; if anyone could answer either for me I would be so grateful!

    1) I will definitely be doing English Lit, French and Spanish, but am not sure about the 4th subject. Am considering History, but have got to the point with the GCSE where I am completely fed up with it. I really hate the structure of the answers that are needed to comply with the mark scheme; particularly the source questions. Does anyone have experience of this problem; did it get better post GCSE?

    2) We have just been given the chance to take our French AS Level early- at the same time as the rest of our GCSEs (I am taking 9 in May/June, including French). French is my favourite subject, and I hope to study it at university, so I really want to take up this opportunity. However, I am worried that it could affect my GCSE results- I took my mocks in November, and they were mostly OK, but only through a lot of revision! Has anyone taken a language AS early at such short notice? (As we would be covering the course in just one term). Or just generally do you think that it would be possible to do this and still get good marks in both the GCSEs and the AS?

    Thank you!
