It's so annoying at the moment. I've found out i'm gonna have to pay £1500 towards my fees because of a **** up at Student Finance England (bloody liars) and I currently cannot find work or secure a job. Lucky I got half paid for using a bursury by my council.

Anyway, this christmas jazz is so expensive. I'm only one guy from a council estate in South Yorkshire It sucks, especially when you're a guy at christmas (don't buy anything and you're considered a cruel and horrible Grinchy stinge). Why do you girls expect so much sometimes?

Anyway, that's irrelevant, any cheap (MEANING CHEAP) christmas gift ideas are very much appreciated

    How is it expensive?? lol!

With my ex, I spent about £150 max on a nice weekend away with some flowers took her away on valentines day and her birthday.

Even if you don't do the weekend away, the flowers are like £10 and are more than enough

I've got the perfect thing to give her at Christmas - a slap in the face. Greedy bi***.

Something that means stuff to the two of you?
My boyf last year did something every day that matched up to the 12 days of Christmas, just little token stuff.
Meant a lot more to me than if he'd spent a grand getting me a laptop or whatever.
    Be romantic and imaginative.

You don't need to spend a lot of money. I know I'd much rather get a nice book, DVD or something that shows that the person getting it has got the present for me specifically (so not something totally generic) than something that cost a lot of money. If you know there's a band or an actor she likes, or something like that, get her something related. Otherwise, you can never go wrong with chocolates. I personally wouldn't want to get flowers, unless they were daisies, buttercups or dandelions, but that's probably just me

I'm getting my friend a crappy kids colouring book cos he does art and I know he'll love it in a really childish way xD if you put enough thought into it you can get awesome presents for practically nothing!

You don't literally need to buy something pricey for your lady.
If i were you, i'll take her to my place and watch a good movie w/ her.
Give her a flower. (it's not that expensive)
A scrapbook with the two of you in it.
A romantic sex? I mean, give her some puzzles that will lead her to your bedroom and then start if off there and don't forget to put some rose petals and scented candles.
There's a lot of things to do actually.

I don't think any girlfriend-type girls are the sort to hate you for not spending money on them. Just think of something special to the two of you.

Unless you've made the classic mistake of going out with a **** whose function is more to be ****ed as a one-off.

Why do you need to spend lots of money? Surely she would understand your financial situation.

Christmas is ****. The whole thing is just a scam to make businesses more money. People like me, who hate Christmas, are labelled "Scrooge" and made to feel bad for not wanting to take part in such a farce.

    THIS ^^^

Also, just ****ing MAKE something, jesus, when money's tight, substitute it with ****-loads of time, effort, and thought. Just guess which would be truly appreciated more?

I've been working (on and off) on a Christmas present for the partner for a month now. She's a little obsessed with Monopoly... so I'm making her an in-joke themed version of it, 'LOLopoly', hella-confusing for anyone else who might play, it's been ****ING HELL to get everything for it, think of every last card, station, property, etc, and a nightmare to get the board folding up right... but I'm pretty damn confident it WILL be a surprise, and that she'll have never got anything like it before.

Don't suppose you've got any similar brothers rattling around have you?
    I jest.

If your girlfriend expects you to buy her loads for Christmas then in all honesty she probably isn't worth the hassle. She should be able to understand your financial situation and not expect lavish stuff. My boyfriend has a job and keeps spending more and more money on Christmas presents for me, and it doesn't make me like him anymore. Pfft.
But I agree, some girls are stupid when it comes to gifts-.-

I wouldn't want my boyfriend to spend money that he doesn't have on me. I'd much prefer something thoughtful. Like the guy who posted above about making a Monopoly for his girlfriend; thats better then ANY gift from the shops.
