Im currently doing a degree in english lit and film at kent, but i hate the uni & love the course. Im dropping out and finding a new uni, and i really want to go to sheffield. However, they dont do film studies. Im wondering whether i should drop it, and whether having a degree in philosophy&lit would enable me to get any kind of job in the film industry. Is film an essential degree for working in the film industry?

English lit will give you a better prospect in most things, and I think you do look at media within the course anyway. Film studies works on the themes behind the movie etc but also does technical stuff I believe. It'll probably be better to do lit and philosophy but then it's up to you.
