I've been having back pain the last few days. Could this be due to muscle imbalances when I have been working my abs? I currently do sit ups etc using this video (I don't know if it is any good) and I also use the ab crunch machine at the gym.

What abs routine do you use? Because I'm planning on making a new routine and scrap my old one. I was looking at this routine, seems pretty decent.

    Thanks

Your back hurts because you have a weak back. Work your lower back to balance it out when doing abs work, abs exercises often put strain on your lower back so its a good idea to have a strong lower back when trying to knock out 100 sit ups

The ab crunch machine is gay btw, do hanging leg raises, my abs routine is focused on medicine ball conditioning and a couple of hundred sit ups

Why do you wanna work your abs though? If you do compound lifts which you should, you'll get a strong core. I only work mine so it gets hurt less when I get smacked in the stomach while sparring

But how do you get a strong lower back? I don't use free weights because in my gym, all the guys who use free weights are huge, I'd stick out like a sore thumb. Besides, I wouldn't know how to use them safetly.

    Deadlift.

Others Hip Extension Movements (i.e. Stiff/Bent-Legged Good Mornings, Hyper-extensions, Pull Throughs, Romanian Deadlift, Reverse Hyper Extensions)

    Squats
    Front Squats
    Standing overhead pressing
    Deadlifts
    Partial Deadlifts

Would probably leave it as that to save complications.

    Deadlift, deadlift heavy

Yeah this is ridiculous, all those huge guys were as skinny as you once, this is just ridiculous

Besides, I wouldn't know how to use them safetly.
