I'm considering getting a Slingbox for university. Obviously a license is required on the Slingbox hardware side (i.e. home), but I can't really figure out of I would need a license on the receiving end.

As I understand it, battery powered devices do not need a separate license. If I watch Slingbox on a laptop, I assume it doesn't need to be licensed?

TVL intentionally skirt around the issue to attempt to trick you into buying a license. I'd just like some input from people who understand the whole thing better.

On a side note, I understand the whole 'you don't need to let them in' stuff. I am wondering about how to do this legally.
