Okay so I'm starting to feel that I've made a BIG mistake. Because I really knew what I wanted to do at university, I felt that there was no point in applying for deferred entry. Now however I am having major regrets and I really want to take a year out to go travelling. My application has been away since the 16th November and I have got back one conditional offer. Is there any way whatsoever that I can change and a apply for deferred entry?

Generally you can request to defer a place once you've had an offer. Universities may or may not agree. However, this does mean that (unless the rules change which may still happen) you would be paying fees under the new system. Because of this, there will be fewer people applying for deferred entry this year, so universities may be happy for you to defer.

You might as well do your degree then go travelling, unless you want to pay three times what you would pay for 2011 entry and defer your place. It depends on how much you would value your year of travelling.
