I've got a ticket to Bangkok booked for next summer (no definite plans for when/where to return from but probably after 6-10 weeks). It's a while away but I thought I'd leave this up so I (and anyone else going to SE Asia) can keep coming back for advice etc.

Not planned a route, but rough idea would be Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam (think I'll save Thailand for another time, just explore Bangkok for now).

Any sites I shouldn't miss out on? And how much would it cost for say 8 weeks in the region - guesthouses/street food/buses etc.

Laos is a great country. Be prepared for hot, sweaty and cramped 12-27 hour bus rides though

So chilled, although their licensing laws are very strict compared to other SE countries.
