    Hey!

I'm looking to rent a studio with my best friend in January and the rent is good.

We viewed it everything seems really nice.

However the landlord is asking for 2 months rent deposit and one month upfront.

I''ve flatshared for two years now and have never been asked for more than a month to six weeks rent deposit.

    What the hell?

    Is this legal??

It's even more annoying as it's christmas time!!

Anything is legal don't be daft, they could ask for 12 months deposit if they wanted.

    Its pretty common.

btw you could offer whatever you like to, you don't have to accept their terms and they don't have to accept yours but it depends if they want you or not.

It seems like quite a lot, but if you want the flat you've got to pay it.

You can try. If they're short of prospective tenants it might work.
