    Hi there.

I have a Philosophy Interview at Southampton university. I have applied for Pol/phil, however the interview is being taken by a Philosophy tutor so I'm guessing it'll be weighted towards this subject. What kind of questions can I expect?

I've never studied Philosophy, I only have a personal interest in it. I'm currently reading lots of philosophy texts. I referenced Marx and Rosseau in my PS - am I likley to get more questions about them? How general is the interview likely to be? I would also be extremely grateful for general interview tips - how formal to go etc!

    Cheers TSR

If you've claimed to have read Marx and Rousseau in your PS then they will certainly ask you about them as obviously, they want to know whether you were telling the truth as these theorists are an incredibly difficult read even in the later years at undergraduate. So therefore, they'll want to know what you think about them

They'll be aware you haven't studied philosophy before so it will come from your PS then the more generic "why us/why phil & pol" questions.

Cheers mate. Fortunately for me I have already read in some detail Marx and Rousseau, but I'm going to brush up on them, maybe get some study guides just so I can give a detailed answer.

Thank you, any other advice on the general university interview process? How formal should I go?
