I can't believe this. For the fourth time in the past two months, I'm sat here, writing a letter of complaint to claim compensation from First Great Western. It's the worst name ever - they should really consider re-branding themselves 'Worst' Great Western.
In the past two months, I've had problems such as trains so late, I miss my connections and trains that are late. First Great Western is an absolute joke.
Basically, I needed to take the 19:48 from Reading to Yate via Bristol Parkway. Then I find out it's Cancelled. Nothing to do with the weather - it's because of the electrics (which probably means that someone forgot to replace the fuse).
So I take the one to Bristol Temple Meads as advised by a member of staff.
It's overcrowded to the brim, and it runs 80 minutes late, which meant that I missed my very last connection. I complain to the station staff who shoved a complaints form under my nose, which I frankly found insulting. Guess what - I'm entitled to half of my return ticket. It's an absolute joke as they don't calculate the fact that I'm late severely, I had to stand for 80 minutes than I needed to and that I've missed my last connection.
Then I screamed at the staff as to how an earth I'm going to get home and finally they said that they would arrange a taxi. That's right, they expect a young, 20 year old student to sit in a taxi for 25 minutes, alone, in the middle of the night. There was no way that I was going to risk that, so I ended up getting my other half to give me a lift.
But honestly, this isn't an isolate incident and the way that First Great Western have handled the whole situation is a joke. This shouldn't be happening in the first place and to offer 50% compensation is pathetic.
I almost ended up in tears thanks to First Great Western. Completely pathetic outfit being run.
First Great Western should be SACKED and lose their franchise Watch
