Sainsburys Application Form Help

For the application form i have to do the following:

For each of the following questions read the 4 options carefully and then choose the one option you think best describes the way you would deal with the situation.

1) A customers clothes have been damaged by oil in the petrol station. She is very angry and wants compensation. Do you:
A) Say that the pumps were checked recently and they were in good order.
B) Investigate the situation and get back to the customer.
C) Offer to have the clothes dry-cleaned.
D) Get the customer to go to customer services and report the problem.

2)A customer wants a particular magazine but you dont have a copy in stock. Do you:
A) Call other stores to see if they have a copy they can send to your store.
B) Apologise and suggest some other shops in the area.
C) Suggest contacting the customer when it gets delivered.
D) Tell the customer that you will arrnage for more copies to be ordered.

3)You are in the car park and you see a customer drop a bottle on the ground which smashes. Do you:
A) Continue on your way into the store as you are late for your shift.
B) Stop and ask him if you can help.
C) Suggest that he reports the incident to customer services.
D) Tell him you'll inform customer services and bring him another bottle.

4) A customer tells you she cannot find the hazelnuts. You know they are not in your section. Do you:
A) Inform the customer the aisle where the hazlenuts can be found.
B) Accompany the customer to the right section and find them for her.
C) Say that you will get the hazlenuts for her.
D) Check if they are in stock and then inform the customer which aisle they are in.

5) A disabled customer regularly comes to buy petrol from the stores petrol station. Do you:
A) Ask if he needs help and suggest that he phones before he leaves home so staff can be available to help him.
B) Go out and offer help to him if you see his car on the forecourt.
C) Tell your colleagues about him so they’re ready to help if you’re not there.
D) Help him to fill up the car if he asks you to.

6) A customer has come into the restaurant but she cant decide what to have. Do you:
A) Tell her about the special offers available
B) Hand her a menu
C) Have a conversation with her to find out what she might like
D) Say there is plenty of time to decide

7) You notice that older bags of salad have not been placed at the front of the shelves and lie behind new stock. Do you:
A) Find out who filled the shelf and tell them about the need for stock rotation
B) Change the stock around yourself as you want to ensure stock rotation
C) Leave it as salad sells quickly
D) Change it round and tell your supervisor so this can be avoided in the future

8) In the bakery you notice a colleague is not making top quality products. Do you:
A) Ask your colleague if they are aware they are not meeting quality standards
B) Discuss quality standards with your supervisor as you may be too picky
C) Suggest to your supervisor the need to improve standards in the bakery
D) Continue working to your own standard as it is not your responsibility to get involved

9) You notice that 2 children are dismantling one of the displays in your section. Their father is ignoring them. Do you:
A) Tell the father as he might not realize what his children are doing
B) Stop the children dismantling the display
C) Tell the father that dismantling the display could be dangerous
D) Tell the father what is happening and ask if he would like any assistance

10) You have a long queue at your till and need some help. You ask a colleague but they seem to be ignoring you. Do you:
A) Stand up and try to get your colleagues attention
B) Call for your supervisor and explain that you cant get your colleagues attention to ask them to help you
C) Apologise to the customer and try to get another colleagues attention
D) Call for your supervisor and ask them to send someone else to help you

11) You realize that a discussion between 2 of your colleagues has been misunderstood by your manager. Do you:
A) Go straight to your manager and tell him about the misunderstanding
B) Talk to your colleagues and your manager and try to resolve the issue
C) Tactfully approach your manager to share your information with him
D) Feel it is not appropriate for you to get involved

12) You are answering a customers question and are annoyed when a colleague umps in and gives a different answer. Do you:
A) Accept that your colleague probably knew the right answer
B) Find your colleague later in the day and talk about the situation
C) Speak up there and then to defend your answer
D) Wait till the customer has gone and discuss it away from the shop floor

There's no correct answer. The form says give your honest answer of what YOU would do. Not us. Sainsburys wants to see how you would react to those realistic situations. If you got the job, you could come across something like this, you won't be able to post on here then... :wink:

I spent hours agonising over those questions once, then they didn't even have the decency to give me a reply. Put the questionairre in the bin, don't waste your time.

oh i got a reply after about a week after handing it in saying it took 3 weeks and if i hadnt heard from them by then, then i hadnt been successful.

oh well.

I got a phone call about 6 hours after I gave in my application form.

And those questions are common sense, I'm amazed anyone's so stupid/nervous to post them on the internet and expect random people to answer them :eek:

I gave mine in on the weekend. Do you think it's worth ringing up to see or shall I just wait a few more days?

I used to work for Morrisons and I never had to fill in anything like that on my form! However, it is all common sense really, just pick the options which you think would satisfy the customer the most and even prompt them to praise you for good customer service! That happened to me once when I accompanied this little old dear around the store carrying her basket for her and she took my name and told my boss! Gold star for me!
