i don't know how to tell this boy who thinks me and him are in a relationship that i don't really want to be in one with him. he asked me out to the cinema, and since a few months ago he sent me a message saying he only wanted us to be friends, i thought he meant go to the cinema as friends - yeah i know

he's now started tagging round with me all the time (didn't used to hang around much). we haven't been on the 'date' yet, it's tomorrow. i've got myself into a bit of a pickle here...i don't like him in 'that way' but he seems to think we're in a relationship...

my question is this - how can i tell him otherwise without hurting his feelings (it's taken him 6 years to admit his feelings and pluck up the courage to ask me out)? i feel like a complete ***** but i don't want this to go any further. there is no spark, no chemistry...just complete awkwardness (he's painfully shy).

TL;DR? shy boy thinks me and him are 'getting it on' but we're not. i need to tell him NICELY that this is not the case.

    thanks guys!

just be honest, it's better than stringing him along.
