There are some universitities and course departments which have standard requirements for their courses that also include grades of individual units within an A-level subject.

Obviously on UCAS, its optional whether to to put this. In the case where the grades of individual units are not given, how would the universities know whether to give you an offer or not? would they reject you outright if they can't get hold of this information?

Also, how many of you only put the overall grade (AS or the full A-level) and didn;t bother with the individual units?

The uni will contact you and request the information. They wouldn't reject you outright for it, no.

I only put down overall grades. My advice is, unless you have every module at or above the overall grade, don't include module grades.

But if a potential offer depends on module grades, then like you said, they're going to contact you about it. So either way, they find out.

Just one more thing. Say if I've completed A-level Chemistry and got AAAAAB in my units. If I wanted to retake that unit which I got a 'B' in, I would have to make this clear on UCAS - by putting that unit again as pending.

In this situation, the concern with not stating individual unit grades, is that the universities would know that I'm doing a re-sit one of my units, but wouldn't know what grade I got in it first time round. Hence, they may assume that since I'm retaking it, I've probably mucked up a bit first-time round and got lower a 'B' grade.

By the way, am I right in thinking that you must specify the unit which you intend to retake?
I know you can just put the subject as pending and leave it as that, but wouldn't that be a bit awkward? because that would look like I'm retaking the whole subject.
