Take Facebook, remove everything but the status update feature, and you get Twitter.

There are some things in this world that are beyond rational explaination...

It's used by famous folk to get more publicity so they stay in the media limelight more. It's used by many sad people who get an odd kick out of commenting on a famous person's senseless inane "tweeting." The rest of the users I have no idea.

I like Twitter. I didn't get it at first but I suppose it depends on what you want to get from it. It;s like micro-blogging I suppose.. I use twitter to "follow" the updates of celebrities and my friends, and unlike facebook it's a two-way thing ie. you can follow someone without them necessarily following you or vice-versa.

One thing that makes Twitter good is that the celebrities themselves update it, as opposed to maybe their management. And you can reply to them using @(username).

Some people use it just to read the updates of the people they're following and other people use it for that and to update their own Twitter. It's good for promotion, like I also use it to promote my youtube channel for example. Depending on what you write you can gain or lose followers (people who are interested in what you write)

So I guess it's like Facebook in some ways!

    Sorry for the essay!!

I've started tweeting... but it all seems very pointless.
One of my friends tweets 30+ times a day... I dont get it. It's not interesting at all. Maybe I dont get it. Any ideas?
