Why don't animals that eat rotting meat (vultures, hyenas etc.) get sick? Surely there are all kinds of dangerous germs crawling about in their food?

Maybe they are used to eating it so it doesnt make them ill? If I gave my dog raw meat, Im pretty sure he would be ill as he doesnt normally eat it.

Their digestive system produces highly acidic digestive juices which will breakdown any poisonous substance present in the rotting food they eat.
All bacteria in the rotton food they eat also gets killed by the acids.
No way scavenging animals or birds will get food poisoning or bacterial infections.
