Hi everyone, I would really appreciate your input here - I have looked elsewhere on other forums for advice with no luck so I'm hoping TSR will help me out!

The sob story ultimately boils down to an unsuccessful Medical application in Yr 13 and a resulting crash in motivation levels leading up to finals - hardly mitigating circumstances no matter how hard I look at it. I fully accept I was an idiot and I kick myself every time I see the required academics for the law firms that really interest me.

However, my past is not my future and this is not the person I am now. I am very focused on being the best I can be and naturally I want to aim as high as possible. However I would appreciate an outsider's assessment of my situation so I can adjust goals if necessary.

Here are the facts as they appear in the cold light of day:

Graduated with a 2.1 BA History from Leicester in 2009
    A Levels: B C D (however predicted A A A, academic scholarship in 2ndary school etc.)

took a gap year to consider options, decided I wanted to do Law in June 2010 (late in the day)

    Experience to date:
CAB volunteer work (full adviser status in ~ 3 months)
A week at Withers LLP in London (arranged through contacts, but invited back to do more experience based on own merits TBD Feb 2010)
A couple of Lawyer lunches, networking etc.

Realistic expectations of work exp. in 2011:
2 medium-sized regional firms in the SE (Thompson Snell & Passmore, Rix & Kay)
PI specialists in London (Pattinson and Brewer)
    Withers mk. II
    Mayer Brown (contacts again )

Extra curricular (main ones I'm pushing):
Music - while on my Gap Year I've had considerable interest from Warner Music Group, meetings and accolades from AAA managers and celebrities, a billing with top artists
    History Society Treasurer at UoLeicester
    4+ years accounts experience
    4+ years charity work

Currently working part-time in retail around my voluntary and music commitments

What I need from TSR (YOU GUYS!)

    1. Your honest opinion as to whether I should apply for the GDL starting 2011 (then LPC in 2012)
    2. If so, is London an option? What level should I be aiming at? (NB I'm being realistic - top 20-30 firms are out, but is there ANY firm in London that would take a student with those A Levels?). Finally, is london worth the expense for someone with my academics?
    3. If London is still possible, should I go for CoL and BPP, or something like City (which I have heard is more academically challenging (READ: where I can prove that my A Levels were just a blip))
    4. Finally, any information on or a list of London firms that don't look at A levels (because I have looked EVERYWHERE).

Very (very) conscious about the A Levels as you can see, sharing your experiences would be appreciated and really helpful here

    Thanks in advance
    DD
