This is a couple of days old, but if you attend football games in this country, please give this a read. Basically, the main point is that the laws regarding football fans are now so draconian it is mental.
Obviously banning orders are a good thing if you they are used wisely, and the use of them has decreased the risk of violence at and around football games. However, you no longer need to be involved in anything in order to be subject to a banning order. The police can decide you are "a risk" without any evidence at all.
This is not a new think of course, the polices attitude to football fans is disgusting and they seem to think we are all there to cause trouble. There have been many many incidents in the last couple of years where innocent fans have been prevented from going to games "Just because". There was a case with a bunch of stoke city fans who were forced by police to leave Manchester before a game against Man Utd for no reason (the police can do this under Section 27 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 - despite it not being meant for football fans) that was quite widely reported.
However, it is very worrying IMO, and is something that someone needs to start standing up against.
When is yours coming?
