At risk of sounding extremely dim - what exactly is Bootcamp? I know it's something that allows you to run Windows on a Mac but how exactly? You purchase a Windows 7 disk and then what? I'm getting a Mac soon so want to know as much about it as possible.

it basically guides you through installing windows.

helps creates another partition, lets you install windows, then helps you install the right drivers off your snow leopard disc.

    its a very easy process

oh and take a read of this http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/...Setup_10.6.pdf

why do you want windows on your mac? if its just for running the odd low-end application you could just create a virtual PC with other software, which would then allow you to simply run windows programs without having to reboot your computer

its just a bog standard version of windows (you'll want 64bit though). so yeah you'll need to buy a copy of windows.

its relatively expensive, so i've just never bothered
