Basically i'm going to a few stores tomorrow to apply for a Part Time job, such as River Island WHSmiths and some local shops.

So what would i need to take to the stores like River island? Just a CV because theres no online application.

And the local shops? Just a CV again?

    Cheers.

ID, proof of address, birth certificate.

I bull****. Just CV. I personally wouldn't bother with a covering letter unless I was sending it in the post, but it can't do any harm

    I wouldnt bother:

    1. There have already hired everyone for christmas.
    2. This method doesn't work. i.e. i have tried 3 time already and ended up giving like 3 CVs out

Its best to try in January, once the christmas temps go.

Yeh I was considering doing that, but as you've almost just pointed out a lot of people will be doing the same. I'll have to think about it, cheers though guys.

Exactly.. It's almost christmas, they're not likely to have time to look at a CV at the moment with all the panic buyers!

This, but to be honest if they need anyone they are probably more likely to get one of the Christmas temps, as they've trained them and know them. It's a bad time to try.

But if you really want to try, you'll need plenty of CV's.

Like someone else has already said, id try after christmas. Most places will have hired everyone that they need for now anyway with christmas temps. Wait untill after christmas when those people have gone.
When you do go around shops, give them your cv and a cover letter. And remember that quite a few places e.g. mcdonalds hire online too.
