I am going to be applying for secondary PGCE to teach Business Studies. I have booked my observation time in for January but I wondered if I should apply now or wait until I have had my experience in the classroom? Is it imperative to talk about your experience in the classroom in the personal statement? (well your time observing more specifically) or can you merely say that you have it arranged? I have experience with young people but not in a classroom environment as such.

When are you planning to apply?
I'd do it asap to be honest as a lot of places have already allocated places or at least done interviews!

What have you got to loose from applying this year, not a lot.
Perhaps in your PS you can highlight the experience you have with young people and also say what you hope to achieve from your proposed experience. Not necessarily highlight gaps but to show willing and direction with your school experience. For example, you could say that you hope to gain some experience with the pastoral side of teaching in a school or specific teaching methods in business studies. Something like maybe.
