    Which would you choose?

I'm so confused. I'm applying to both for anthropology (however at Birmingham it's with Classical Literature & Civilisation) and I prefer the course at Southampton.

However, I think I prefer Birmingham as a city?

    Where would you guys go?!

It's hard to say because, as you said, you like the course at Southampton better whilst you prefer the city of Birmingham. Both are really nice cities and I guess you just have to try and weigh out what is more important, the quality (or content) of the course and the student life the city can provide.

That's what I'm finding so hard. Prioritising everything. Last year it seemed to be student life but this year, the actual course content has become more important.

What i'm after though is more opinions on the city as places to live as students

That's the main reason for this thread really. I can't visit the universities as I'm off travelling for 5 months in 2 weeks and can't be back in the UK before then

The thing is, I'm from quite a small town in Portugal where basically, apart from 4 summer months where the population expands it's ridiculously quiet.

I like the idea of being in a big city, but I guess Birmingham could be TOO big and be a bit of a shock? Southampton seems a bit more student friendly by the sounds of it. What apart from the fact you failed the interview did you not like about Birmingham? I seem to be getting mixed reviews from every angle about it!

    Decisions, decisions
