Mechanics 2 question!!! Help!

A parcel of 5kg is resting on a platform inclined 25 degrees to the horizontal.
The co-efficient of friction between the parcel and the platform is 0.3. The platform is released from rest and slides down the platform. Calculate:

a) the speed of the parcel after moving for 2 seconds,
b) the potential energy lost by the parcel during this time.

This is a question from the edexcel m2 textbook, please help!

Thanx

You need to find the resultant force down the slope to find the acceleration of the parcel. Resolve the weight down the slope, calculate the frictional force, from this you'll find the resultant force. Then using F=ma, you can work out the acceleration, then it's just a case of SUVAT equations.

The second part requires a bit of geometry. You can work out the distance the parcel moves in those 2 seconds, from that you can 'resolve' the distance into its height component, and mgΔhmg\Delta h to calculate the GPE lost.
