    Hey everyone,

I posted this on another thread but just wanted some feedback

I am 23 years old and thinking of applying for speech and language therapy.

I work with autistic adults at a day centre, where verbal communication and language plays a large part.

I was wondering with this work experience, and sadly not having A levels or an Access diploma do you think it would be worth enquiring?

    Many thanks

It depends on which university,- they will have set entry requirements, many will require a levels.
Check on each university website their entry requirements,- from there you will have email and phone contacts of the admissions departments and tutors.
Some of the newer, and perhaps less well performing/over subscribed universities will have a more relaxed policy,- say Newman (if they offer it) will have lower entry requirements than Manchester.

    Best bet= Individual university websites.

The work experience = will go down really well though.

    EDIT: http://www.marjon.ac.uk/courses/cour...nguagetherapy/

They will look at your application,- contact them.
You will not need a levels for this course,- it says you can apply individually and they will look at your application on its own merits.

Applications from non standard applicants are welcomed and will be considered individually.

Applicants who do not hold the qualifications specified above will be considered on an individual basis

I'd recommend contacting Marjon, as like the person above said, you look at applications individually.

I am a second year SLT at Marjon, so feel free to ask any questions if you have any.

    Hi There,

Please feel free to give us a call - 01752 636727. I can give you an overview of the SPLT course here at Marjon. The UCAS tariff for this course is currently 300 points (3 b's at a-level or equivalent). All course fees are paid for by the NHS.

You probably won't get onto a course like speech therapy without a good set of A Levels, there are many scientific aspects to it as well as just working with people. You will need to prove that you have some academic skills.

You can become an SLT assistant without A Levels however, and maybe if you did that for a few years you would be able to get onto a course. Or alternatively go back to college and do your A Levels... there are places that do fast-track A Levels for adults where you could do them in one year.
