Hello everyone...

Right...it's not Chinese New Year till tomorrow (Thursday 22nd January)...but i wanted to be the one start a thread about it...and by the time i get onto the computer tomorrow...someone else will have beaten me to the punch.

So here goes....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GONG XI FA CAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(i'm mandarin)

or for the cantonese among you.....

GONG HEI FAT CHOI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the year of the monkey for all who are interested....

So here's me wishing everyone (regardless of whether they are chinese or not...though it will probably have more significance to people who are actually chinese) a very prosperous new year....i hope it brings you a great deal of good fortune!!!

GONG HEI FAT CHOI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Going into China Town? Or perhaps hanging some lettuce from your front door?

What puzzles me are the ever changing dates, last year, Chinese New Year was in February, now its in January.

Oh well, better get the lucky envelopes out.

Thank you.......mmmmm....money!!

The reason there are ever changing dates is cos the chinese calender is based on the moon cycle.....which doesn't repeat exactly the same every year....

I prefer eating duck as opposed to the money. Hehe, I thought that Chinese Firecrackers were outlawed, lol, seems like a few people in Chinatown have some.

Yea, I started mine about 8 hours ago and it was hijacked. Some guys (not saying who) decided to start arguing with each other and ended up talking about golf management courses at university! What a total disrespect to us Chinese!
