Hi, i got accepted to Bangor uni to study History. I have also 4 other conditional offers at my disposal and cannot decide where to go. Ive been to the Bangor area alot on holiday (visiting family) and love the feel of the place, however i do not get a true and accurate picture of what its like.

What i really want to know is....would i enjoy it?
I feel i am quite a sporty person and enjoy socialising alot, i think of myself as quite "cool" and have a worry of ending up with people that do not enjoy socialising or goig out in any way. I know Bangor doesn't have the best array of nightclubs but i would sacrifice that for its spectacualr location. Can someone help me? Is it respected, is it pleasant, what are the halls like, is the nightlife ok, did you enjoy it and would i fit in?

    Thank you

So long as you join a sports team, you'll be fine.

And by 'sports', I do not mean ultimate frisbee, or american football (seriously, they've literally never scored any points, and their only achievement is allegedly ONE first down. Ever.)

Join rugby (union or league, league though... really :P ), football or hockey and you'll have a good social life.

You sound as if you have never played ultimate frisbee before. Maybe you should come down to a practise one day. It is actually quite intense.

You sound similiar to my flat mate who is studying History. Although, I think his version of socialising is more stay out drinking and come back dinner time the next day without having sleep yet. I'm also yet to find a student who doesn't like going out drinking and socialising in Bangor. Surely there is some I just haven't seen them. I think the nightlife isn't as good as other City's to be honest but it's what you make it, Start with drinks in halls etc and go out with a few mates and it's not a bad night. I live in the new halls on Ffrith site and my building is like 2 years old or something. En-suite and really nice for student accomodation you can see Bar Uno out of the window it's that close, if you want to watch sports etc. I've seen other accomodation in Bangor though and they are pretty bad. I'd avoid Garth if you don't like old catered accomodation and normal site unless you don't mind sharing toilets and showers an old buildings. I love it here I think you would fit in aslong as you don't mind the not so good night life but again, It's what you make of it.
