Upgrading a squier strat Watch

I'm looking to get some upgrades for my strat, gonna get a new amp as well, my current one is horrendous (cost about £15). I've been playing for a bit under 2 years, not very consistently but I'm getting well into it now. I play mostly classic rock but my preferences jump around all the time.

I've been looking at the Vox AC4-TV combo for an amp (~£200) and perhaps a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail single slot humbucker (£65). I don't really want to spend more than £400 total, could also upgrade to locking tuners, upgrade the other pickups etc.

Does anyone have any pointers? The range of gear is just bewildering. Also just to add I'm not in a band and will pretty much be playing in my room hence the low wattage amp. Would definitely be amenable to getting into a band, just at the moment out of my mates we have no drummer, vocalist or bassist! Am I right in saying I can attach another cabinet to the amp if I need to?

Why not get a £200 amp and a new £200 guitar?

Ibanez RG? I always prefer playing that, but each to their own.

Fair points, I need to try out some more guitars. I've only really played my mate's Jackson Flying V and an Epiphone SG much. Don't like the Flying V much, the neck was nice but I don't like playing it sat down. Shame the guitar shop nearest me has shut down, will be making a trip to town after Christmas. Is it really not worth doing anything with the strat?

Shameless bump, anyone got amp recommendations in the £200-300 area, looking for a fairly quiet tube combo.

I wouldn't advise altering your Squier, I'd just get a new guitar worth around the 400 mark, look at a decent Epiphone or cheap Fender. Then wait till you're in a band to get a better amp. That is just my opinion but definitely don't just alter the squier.
